£250k village project to get underway
12:49pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012
A MASSIVE village project costing more than £250,000 will get underway after being in the pipeline for more than ten years.
The project includes rebuilding part of Alresford village hall, as well as building new toilet blocks and a new sports facility with changing rooms and a storage area.
Nearly £120,000 has been donated by various organisations.
Residents have also held coffee mornings, dances and various sponsored events to boost the funds.
The total cost of the project will be £261,000, but enough has been raised to get started and fundraisers are confident of raising the remaining cash.
Parish councillor Frank Belgrove said: “The whole village has thrown its weight behind this and people have raised a lot of money.
“This will be a massive boost for the village and the biggest investment here for a very long time."
It is hoped that work will start in April and be completed by the end of the summer.
