N-ice cold dip for fundraisers
4:15pm Saturday 4th February 2012
FUNDRAISERS braved icy weather to take a dip in the North Sea to raise money for a cancer victim.
More than 100 people were expected to take the plunge in freezing waters in Clacton this afternoon.
The super swimmers were raising money for Kenzie Cackett, who has an inoperable form of cancer.
The three-year-old had pioneering treatment in Florida, USA, to rid him of a brain tumour last year.
But the disease has spread to his spine. He has become paralysed from the waist down.
Grandmother Deborah Hartley organised the sea swim to raise money for Kenzie, who is now staying in Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich.
She said: "I can't convey how generous everyone has been.
"I have only been living in Clacton for a year and I have been bowled over by the sense of community here. My faith in people has grown."
Members of the public donned fancy dress including Spongebob Squarepants for the day.
